Years 10 - 12

In the Senior School, students are starting to look beyond their school years towards possible careers and post-school options.

At West Moreton Anglican College we are focused on challenging students as well as supporting them in their endeavours. Our students come to us with a vast array of educational and recreational interests that are met via our extremely broad curriculum. In this way, every student may fulfil the College mission - In Pursuit of Individual Excellence.

Students enter the Senior School in Year 10. As senior students they are expected to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner with great emphasis on the old- fashioned virtues of politeness, neatness of person and care for younger students. Year 10 students undertake the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science (at an extension, mainstream or support level) as well as Health & Physical Education and Christian Living. They also have 15 interesting and diverse elective subjects from which to choose.

Our College maintains a flexible approach to studies in Years 11 and 12. Students have 28 and 30 accredited Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) subjects respectively and seven and eight Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects respectively from which to make their choices. Students can choose a straight academic path, a mixture of academic and vocational subjects or a vocational education course.

Opportunities also exist to gain tertiary credit points while still at school. West Moreton Anglican College encourages students to take advantage of the Enhanced Studies Programs offered by The University of Queensland and the Queensland University of Technology as well as programs available on our own campus.

A comprehensive pastoral program, based on respect for the individual, is embedded throughout the Senior School. The Head of Senior School, the Deputy Head of Senior School and the Senior House Co-ordinators maintain an "open door policy" for students and parents. Guidance Officers are also on hand to offer careers advice as well as assistance with personal problems and study skills.

In this rapidly changing and often challenging world it is essential that young people are equipped to face the personal and social issues that will confront them outside the protective walls of home and school.  The Senior School at West Moreton Anglican College has developed a very comprehensive Life Skills Programs that addresses areas such as finding a job in the modern workplace, drug education, human relationships education, study skills and an intensive program of preparation for the Queensland Core Skills (QCS) Test.

To complete the process that begins in Prep, students in the Senior School continue to gain valuable outdoor education skills through a range of exciting and challenging outdoor experiences that include activities such as bushwalking, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, SCUBA diving, surfing and snow skiing during their final three years of schooling.
