At West Moreton Anglican College our Senior School - for students in Years 10, 11 and 12 - focuses on challenging students as well as supporting them in their endeavours.
Our students come to us with a vast array of education interests and abilities and our extremely broad curriculum allows each and every student to pursue individual excellence.
The Year 10 academic program is specifically designed to lead into the subjects offered in the final two years of Senior School. Year 11 and 12 students have a choice of 28 and 30 Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) accredited subjects and eight and seven Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects respectively. Opportunities exist for senior students to undertake learning extension classes and to participate in enhanced studies programs offered by local universities such as The University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology.
Students in the Senior School undertake a comprehensive Life Skills Program that assists them to prepare for the future. This program includes instruction on drug education, human relationships education, seeking employment, effective study habits, and an intensive program to prepare students for the Queensland Core Skills (QCS) Test. Guidance Officers provide career guidance and a counselling service.
Outdoor education is also an important aspect of our core curriculum and students are encouraged to participate in the many exciting and challenging outdoor experiences that are on offer. In recent years, students have enjoyed bushwalking, canoeing, fishing, horse-riding, SCUBA diving, snow skiing and surfing to name only a few activities.
Senior School students at West Moreton Anglican College are expected to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner and we place great emphasis on "old-fashioned" virtues such as politeness, neatness of person, and care for younger students.
