Effective colleges in the 21st century must form an open and honest partnership between the parents, the college and the child which I term the triangle of success. If all three groups understand each other and strive in the same direction, then the winner is the child. This building of rapport through effective communication is the key to being a successful college.

At West Moreton Anglican College, we understand that children are children only once and that time is short. In effect it is “One Childhood….One Chance”.

Pastoral Care at our College is proactive (not reactive) and underpins every other function of the College. Fundamentally, children should be able to walk through the school gates each morning and leave in the afternoon happy. I believe that all other educational programs will fall short of fruition unless pastoral care is effective.

West Moreton Anglican College – or WestMAC as it is affectionately known – is a Christian college in the Anglican tradition. At WestMAC, our students participate in a Christian Living program and are encouraged with equal importance to live their daily lives by Christian principles. When this motivation comes from within, faith is “caught” not just taught.

The WestMAC discipline policy reflects our Christian ethos. I am a firm believer in the development of self discipline with children. Children need definite boundaries in their formative years and lax discipline and low standards do them no favours.  Within our College, we have high expectations regarding standards of behaviour and presentation of our students and we work collaboratively with parents and children to maintain these high standards.

Our academic curriculum takes the form of a whole school integrated plan and we have a deliberate focus on literacy, numeracy and technology. Technology is integrated across learning areas as a necessary “life skill” for the 21st Century.

Support structures exist to assist and nurture students at both ends of the academic continuum. “Personal bests” are encouraged and applauded regardless of their level.

Believing that success in one area is often the spark that stimulates the desire for success in other areas, West Moreton Anglican College offers a comprehensive co-curricular program in sports and the arts to allow students to use their talents, and possibly discover talents previously unknown. The College’s developmental and sequential Outdoor Education program provides unique experiences allowing students through their participation to arrive at a more clearly understood self.

The highly competent and professional staff members at WestMAC join with me in ensuring that every child entrusted daily into our care at this College is given every opportunity to be the best that they can be.

If you feel that a “West Moreton Anglican College” education may suit your child then I would love to hear from you.
