The Nature of Drama
Drama is one of the oldest art forms known. It provides a medium for exploration, social criticism, celebration and entertainment. Drama enables students to define and shape their own identity within social and cultural contexts.
Throughout the Year 9 and 10 Drama course, students are given opportunities to learn about and explore acting and theatre of various styles as well as develop competence in the technical aspects of Drama lighting, direction and design.
The Value of Studying Drama
Drama offers students an opportunity to express themselves and to explore the way others express their ideas and feelings. It also gives students the chance to develop skills in teamwork, problem solving, public speaking, leadership and theatre. Essentially, Drama improves communication skills, develops performance skills and develops social and interpersonal skills which could assist with any future life paths.
