One of the main benefits of studying Home Economics clearly lies with personal development.  Students gain considerable knowledge in areas such as food preparation and presentation, food science technology, nutrition, textiles, clothing design, human relationships and management.

Students also further their skills of personal management, grooming, interpersonal communication, cooking, sewing, balancing personal budgets, and designing living and working space for homes and the workplace.

The subject also encourages dialogue between students and parents regarding a range of family and domestic issues.
