English Teacher (Years 7 to 12)

WestMAC is seeking an experienced English Teacher (Years 7-12). The successful applicant will be an exceptional classroom practitioner with expertise in Senior English, Literature and/or Literature Extension and SOSE (Years 7-10). This full time and permanent role will commence January 2022.

  • Strong knowledge in the areas of pedagogy, curriculum, evaluation and using ICT.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to plan and deliver engaging lessons that maximise learning outcomes for students.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to integrate technology into effective classroom practice.
  • Demonstrate high-level written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to work constructively with students, parents, teachers, and staff.
  • Demonstrate a capacity to develop a climate of trust with colleagues, students, and parents in a Christian school setting in the Anglican tradition.
  • Be a leader and an advocate in contemporary learning and education.
  • Support and provide excellent pastoral care to WestMAC’s students.
  • Eligible to work in Australia, Qualified Teacher and currently registered with the Queensland College of Teachers.

Selection Criteria should include:

  • SC.1 Eligible to work in Australia, Qualified Teacher and currently registered with the Queensland College of Teachers along with demonstrated English teaching experience.
  • SC.2 Demonstrate a capacity to develop a climate of trust with colleagues, students and parents in a Christian school setting in the Anglican tradition.
  • SC.3 Demonstrate the capacity to plan and deliver engaging lessons that maximise learning outcomes for students.
  • SC.4 Demonstrate the capacity to integrate technology into effective classroom practice.
  • SC.5 Demonstrate high-level written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to work constructively with students, parents, teachers and staff.
  • SC.6 Demonstrate the desire and capacity to contribute to the College’s extracurricular programs.
