Casual Enrolled Nurse
We are seeking a casual Enrolled Nurse to provide support during times of increased College operations and staff absences. This casual role is expected to commence at the start of Term 1 in 2026.
Our Health Centre provides nursing services for students P-12. This role will work with a College employed Registered Nurse (RN).
It is expected that the RN delivers most of the administrative duties and has overall control of all functions of the Health Centre. This role will assist wherever possible with these duties but will essentially be assisting to provide a basic triage nursing service.
This may suit individuals who are keen to keep themselves busy from time to time but are not looking for a regular pattern of work (as a casual arrangement, there is no firm advance commitment to ongoing work).
Key responsibilities:
- Liaise with parents/guardians as a priority in every case to report incidents, organise follow-up treatment and arrange transport as required.
- Contribute to the provision of first aid and emergency services to students, staff and volunteers by:
- Administering Ventolin, prescribed medication, etc. under the guidance of the RN and in accordance with documented medical action plans and College policies;
- Administering appropriate initial first aid to students, teachers and parent volunteers;
- Establishing and maintaining medical records (paper and computer based) and medication kept at the College for student use;
- In emergency cases, arrange transfer to a hospital, medical centre or home, in accordance with College policies and/or accepted first aid practice.
- PA announcements as required;
- Maintain a clean and tidy Health Centre.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Qualification as an Enrolled Nurse (EN).
- Experience working in a similar position in a school-based environment (desirable).
- Ability to handle emergency situations in a careful, responsive, calm and rational manner.
- Solid understanding and appreciation of Child Safe legislation, cultural safety and compliance requirements.
- Time and work management skills that ensure workload is managed and deadlines met according to agreed priorities.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.
- Ability to handle the physical work associated with first aid.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- A knowledge of first aid practices and emergency responses.
