Deputy Principal 2027

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and people-focused educational leader to join our Executive Leadership Team as Deputy Principal, commencing in 2027. This pivotal role works in close partnership with the Principal to provide both strategic direction and operational leadership across the College from Prep to Year 12.

The successful candidate will be an inspiring and collaborative leader who plays a key role in shaping a future-focused learning environment where students and staff are supported and empowered to thrive.

The role carries broad responsibility for the leadership and oversight of teaching and learning, staff and student management, professional development, curriculum and pastoral systems, College operations, major events, scholarships, compliance, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Principal to implement Strategic plans and assist in the development of School Improvement plans.
  • Lead workforce planning including staffing allocation and organisational design, across academic and support staff.
  • Oversee professional learning, staff development, performance, wellbeing and workplace culture in line with strategic objectives.
  • Oversee student wellbeing, pastoral care systems, and student leadership programs across P–12.
  • Ensure compliance with Child Safe legislation and oversee safeguarding practices within the College.
  • Coordination of major P–12 College events, including whole-school assemblies, Reconciliation events, Student Leadership Inductions, ANZAC Day services, and Founders’ Day celebrations.
  • Oversee risk management and emergency planning.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Capacity to lead others in the process of change and positively promote the profile of the College.
  • Leadership in improving educational outcomes for all students within a contemporary educational philosophy.
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current curriculum frameworks, particularly the Australian Curriculum.
  • Capacity to be an empathetic listener, an engaging and persuasive speaker, and a diplomatic communicator.
  • High levels of intellectual and emotional intelligence as well as self-awareness.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • A proven ability to manage staff, programs, and resources on time and within budget.
  • Strategic and operational planning skills that result in individuals and teams successfully implementing and completing projects.
  • Capacity to delegate judiciously and effectively.
  • High level conceptual, analytical, and planning skills for use in the implementation of College operational procedures and priorities to optimise efficiency and learning outcomes.
  • Capacity to make difficult decisions in a complex educational organisation, balancing students’ wellbeing, academic achievement, and financial parameters.
  • Strong information technology and information management skills and experience in relation to pedagogy and public presentations.
  • Tertiary qualifications in education and the capacity to teach in at least two (2) disciplines.
  • Possession of a higher degree (Masters or Doctorate) or equivalent experience in Leadership, Pastoral Care, or related discipline would be viewed favourably.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration in Queensland as a teacher.
