Teacher and Leader – First Nations Portfolio (Identified Position)

West Moreton Anglican College is seeking an exceptional Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander educator to lead our First Nations Portfolio.

This newly created promotional position combines outstanding classroom practice with strategic leadership, providing the opportunity to influence student outcomes, strengthen cultural capability across the College and build meaningful partnerships with students, families and community.

This is an opportunity to lead change at a whole-school level while remaining connected to teaching and learning.

About the role:

As the Teacher and Leader – First Nations Portfolio, you will provide leadership across Prep–12 by:

• Leading educational success and wellbeing initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
• Coordinating complex student support and case management.
• Driving culturally responsive teaching and learning across the College.
• Building staff capability through coaching and professional learning.
• Developing strong partnerships with students, families, Elders and community organisations.
• Leading strategic projects including reconciliation initiatives, cultural events and student leadership opportunities.
• Advising College leadership on culturally informed educational practice.

This role includes a negotiated teaching load to support portfolio responsibilities.

About You:

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

• Current Queensland teacher registration (or eligibility).
• Excellence in classroom teaching and contemporary pedagogy.
• Deep knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contemporary issues.
• Experience leading student wellbeing, case management or educational support initiatives.
• The ability to build trusted relationships with students, families, community and colleagues.
• Strong communication, leadership and project management skills.
• A passion for improving educational outcomes and creating culturally safe learning environments.
