Senior School (Year 10 - Year 12)
Years 10 to 12
Equipping each student for the real world
At WestMAC, we know that your child’s Senior years are incredibly important, as they complete their studies and prepare for their next chapter. As a school of opportunities, our aim is to give your child everything they need to find their place in the world — whether they enter the workforce, pursue further study, travel or take a different path altogether. Throughout it all, they’ll be supported by a team of caring, attentive educators, support staff and a Careers Advisor who’ll be on hand to guide them through this exciting transition.
Meet our Senior School leadership team
In the Senior years at WestMAC, students are supported to stretch, lead and prepare for life beyond school. Head of School Dr Peter Britton and Deputy Head Alison Costa work closely with their Leaders of Culture and the broader Senior School staff to guide each student through these important final years with purpose, confidence and care.
Innovative programs, endless opportunities
WestMAC Senior students benefit from a broad curriculum and subject pathways designed to suit a wide range of interests, goals, and individual preferences. The curriculum includes five science subjects, including Agricultural Science, as well as extension subjects in maths, music, and the humanities.
While we thoroughly prepare students for their ATAR assessments and their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), our focus is always on ensuring that their studies are designed around their unique interests and talents. For this reason, we partner with TAFE and other registered training organisations to provide more than 10 on-site certifications across construction, manufacturing, engineering, business, retail, hospitality, health and fitness, technology, education and agriculture (rural operations).

This School-Based Apprentice and Traineeship Program enables students to participate in employment one day a week while gaining a nationally recognised qualification — typically Certificate II or III. These certifications are available across a wide range of vocations and are designed to help your child get a headstart in their chosen field.
Our Gifted and Talented Program
At WestMAC, we recognise and nurture the unique strengths of students who are ready to extend their learning.
Our Gifted and Talented Program supports eligible students through personalised learning plans, accelerated pathways, and a wide range of enrichment opportunities. From differentiated classroom tasks to specialist programs such as the Maths Olympiad, Future Problem Solving Program, and the Australian Brain Bee Challenge, students are empowered to deepen their knowledge — both in the classroom and beyond.
Gifted and Talented students are identified through a combination of evaluations:
- Specialist reports.
- Teacher referrals.
- Standardised testing.
- Sage (a test that identifies academically talented individuals).
Families can be reassured that the learning specialist will engage, communicate, and collaborate with the student, parents, and teachers to support the student's needs.
Technology in the classroom
Our use of technology in the Senior years ensures WestMAC is meeting your child’s ICT requirements, as mandated by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA). As in previous years, your student will need to have access to an approved device in order to complete their studies.
All students will receive free access to the full Microsoft Office suite. In some subjects, additional software may be required. This will be made available either through the Horizon virtual desktop or via classroom computers, depending on the subject’s needs.
Outdoor Education through the Senior years
In our Senior School, our off-campus Outdoor Education Program is focused on leadership. There are two camps, in Years 10 and 11, which are located in Emu Gully (Helidon). These focus on exploration and challenge, creating experiences that inspire growth and development. In Year 10, your child will attend our Development Camp, and in Year 11, they’ll attend the final camp of their WestMAC journey: Leadership Camp.
Performing Arts in the Senior years
In the Senior Years, our Performing Arts Program offers increasingly sophisticated and real-life experiences. Until now, your child has had the opportunity to practise their skills, build their confidence and allow their creativity to take centre stage.
From Year 10 onwards, we begin to integrate real-world opportunities into the arts. Your child will be able to collaborate with industry professionals, compete in prestigious performances and produce professional showcases. Throughout it all, they’ll be supported by our experienced team of specialist teachers and instructors as they explore their potential and prepare for life after school.
Sport in the Senior years
In Senior School, sport continues to play a key role in promoting health, teamwork and leadership. Students can participate in a wide variety of competitive and recreational sports through TAS and local leagues, or continue to develop personal fitness through our High Performance Gym and Athlete Development Program.
Whether aiming for personal bests, team success or long-term fitness, students are encouraged to set goals, stay active and challenge themselves — all within a supportive environment that values balance and wellbeing.
Anglican Identity
As students prepare to step into the world beyond school, our Anglican values remain a guiding influence. In Senior School, students are encouraged to reflect on their purpose, character and impact through programs like Religious and Values Education (RaVE), Chapel services and student-led initiatives.
Through service opportunities, leadership roles and meaningful moments of reflection, students are supported to grow into compassionate, ethical young adults who understand the importance of community, responsibility and hope.
Dandiiri in our Senior years
Our Indigenous Perspectives (Dandiiri) Program continues all the way through to graduation, ensuring they have a firm grasp of the 65,000-year history of our First Nations peoples prior to graduation. The Dandiiri program offers our students authentic opportunities to understand our Indigenous peoples’ ways of knowing, viewing and relating to the world — an essential foundation for fostering respect, empathy and a deep connection to the cultural heritage of our nation.
West Moreton Anglican College respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners, the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul People of the Yugara/Yagara Language Group, as custodians of the land and waters we share.
