Welcome to 2015

Happy New Year to the WestMAC Community!

As the school holidays are fast drawing to a close, we would like to send a pre-emptive warm welcome back to staff and families for what will no doubt be another action-packed year.

We would also like to warmly welcome our new staff and families on behalf of the WestMAC Community.

You will soon find out, if you haven't already, that the Community is a very large and inclusive one, and we look forward to you joining us at the many 2015 College events that draw upon and celebrate the great Community that we have here at WestMAC.

New staff will be introduced in the first College News for 2015, to be published in Week 2 of Term 1, but in the interim, here is an impressive news item about Mr Ben O'Connell, our new Middle School Core Teacher for English and SOSE:

The Queensland Times 13 January 2015 "O'Connell leads state to victory"

Congratulations 2014 OP Achievers

Our OP results for 2014 continued the established WestMAC tradition for academic excellence.

Congratulations to our 2014 Dux Brendan Jenkyn and Proxime Accessit Alexandra Minks, on achieving an OP1, along with Amy Thompson, Hannah Smith and Matthew Eden.

Overall, 55 percent of the OP eligible cohort achieved an OP10 or better with 89 percent in the OP1 to OP15 range, making 2014 the best year on record for Year 12 results. These results are evidence of the established and still improving quality of the learning environment, outstanding teaching and the culture of striving for personal excellence at WestMAC.
