Permanent, full-time teaching position - commencing 2025 - Term 4
We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified, QCT registered Learning Enrichment Teacher (Secondary) who is skilled at and passionate about providing positive experiences of school and supporting students at educational risk.
Reporting to the Leader of Learning Enrichment (Secondary), you will be responsible for helping to improve the educational achievements of secondary students with special education needs by providing expert support (inside or outside of the classroom), and the development of appropriate, innovative, flexible and inclusive strategies that support a positive schooling experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to enrolment processes for students who are identified with learning difficulties/disabilities and assist to identify special needs of students through the use of standardised testing, observations, specialist reports, etc.
- Coordinate and collaborate with key stakeholders to review specific needs of students, then develop strategies and appropriately scaffold learning experiences that will support and care for identified student needs.
- Contribute advice to the verification process including the development of IEPs. Attend and contribute at IEP meetings, ensure they are conducted within designated time frames and that adequate meeting notes are taken.
- Provide advice and support to parents regarding learning support and personal/behavioural difficulties.
- Assist with Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) applications as required.
- Teach support classes and disseminate information to teaching staff regarding appropriate teaching or learning strategies for students identified with specific learning needs, including those requiring academic challenge, and assist to improve the overall quality of differentiated learning in every classroom.
- Provide information and support to teaching staff on specific learning needs via workshops, literature and professional development sessions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with students, parents and other staff to promote educational partners by constant liaison with all.
- Develop and utilise appropriate evaluation techniques for formative assessment and set and supervise summative assessment tasks.
- Actively participate as a member of the NCCD Team including assisting with the management and collation of NCCD data and the moderation of this data.
- Collect input from a wide range of sources and maintain appropriate records for each student, including maintaining data base indicating student disability categories and levels of adjustment in line with NCCD requirements through moderation meetings.
- Carry out reporting and other administrative duties in an effective and efficient manner especially meeting set deadlines.
- Supervise students as allocated and participate in the co-curricular and extra-curricular programs and use opportunities within these programs to enhance the College’s ethos and overall development e.g. attendance at camps.
- Manage student behavioural problems according to the College’s philosophy and guidelines on behaviour management and discipline.
- Utilise available technology to maximise opportunty for good teaching and ensure teaching resource materials are kept up to date.
- Role model behaviour that supports the College’s aim to develop behavioural self-management in students.
- Participate in meetings as appropriate to share ideas and contribute to the development of teaching excellence.
- Maintain membership of appropriate professional bodies and participate actively in professional development opportunities in order to keep abreast of changes in education, appropriate subject areas and inclusive education.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant teaching area.
- Current Queensland Teacher registration
- Extensive expertise and experience in Learning Enrichment in a school environment.
- Solid understanding and appreciation of Student Protection compliance requirements
- Exceptional interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and other community members.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policy and programs for Learning Enrichment.
- Proficiency in written and oral communication for a range of specific purposes and audiences.
- Strong organisational and time management skills including attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated proactiveness, flexibility and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively work independently or operate as part of a broader team harmoniously to achieve agreed outcomes.
