The College continues to make significant progress in its major infrastructure projects, with the Student Hub and JJ Block redevelopment entering exciting new stages. These works are key elements of our long-term Master Plan and reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering innovative, student-focused spaces that enhance learning, connection, and College life.

Several foundational milestones have already been completed:

• Bulk excavation has been finalised, establishing the Level 1 platform at its reduced level
• Bored piers have been drilled and poured
• Footing beam construction is underway
• Site stormwater infrastructure is now complete

Throughout Term 3, the focus will be on the structural works that will bring the future heart of the campus to life. These include:

• Pouring of the ‘shotcrete’ sloping retaining wall
• Completion of pad footings and ground footing beams
• Blockwork and concrete walls taking shape
• Installation of under-slab services for the Lower Ground level
• Construction of Retaining Walls and installation of internal staircases (#1 and #2)
• Construction of covered walkways from the Middle School to the Tuckshop and Student Hub

Once completed, the Student Hub will offer a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose space housing our executive and administrative teams, a contemporary Prep–12 library, and dynamic classrooms to support collaborative learning. It remains on track for handover in early 2026.

Keswick Road Courts

Over the July school holidays, the Keswick Road Courts received their final resurfacing, marking the completion of this exciting project.

Earlier in Term 2, new lighting was installed, allowing twilight and evening use—perfect for student training, mustering for camps, and other after-hours activities. Now fully operational, the Keswick Road Courts are a vibrant, multi-purpose space that will continue to serve as a valuable resource for students and the wider College community for years to come.

Throughout Term 1, the College has made exciting strides across several key building projects, representing important progress in the ongoing enhancement of our campus facilities.

These developments reflect our strategic commitment to delivering high-quality, purpose-built spaces that elevate the student experience, enhance learning environments, and improve the overall functionality of our campus for the entire College community.

Key Projects Underway

Keswick Road Courts

The transformation of the Keswick Road Courts has brought an exciting new dynamic to our campus. This all-weather facility has courts that are purpose-built for daily student use, sports training, and weekend fixtures—rain, hail or shine. The addition of a roof not only protects from the elements but also creates a flexible, multi-use space that doubles as a sheltered zone for College camps and events. Already buzzing with activity, this vibrant new facility is a fantastic enhancement for students and the wider College community.

Student Hub Construction

In early 2025, the tender for the Student Hub was awarded to Trowse Construction, with construction commencing shortly thereafter. We extend our sincere thanks to staff and students for their cooperation in maintaining clear boundaries around the construction site, ensuring a safe and efficient start to the works.

As of April, several key milestones have been achieved:

• Bulk excavation completed, with the Level 1 platform reduced to final level
• Bored piers successfully drilled and poured
• Footing beam construction underway
• Site stormwater works 99% complete

The Student Hub is a cornerstone of the College’s Master Plan to 2040, which outlines a vision for future campus development— the planned upgrades will create a vibrant student-centric College Heart including a proposed, new Performing Arts precinct. Once completed, the Hub will deliver a contemporary, multi-functional facility housing our executive and administrative teams, a state-of-the-art Prep to 12 library, and new classrooms designed to support collaborative, future-focused learning.

Senior Courts

The Tennis Courts, located near the Senior Car Park, were resurfaced and repainted during Term 1. This timely upgrade has revitalised the area just in time for the start of Term 2 tennis, and we look forward to students and staff making full use of this refreshed facility.

Road Infrastructure and Safety Enhancements

We are also pleased to share that Ipswich City Council is undertaking important safety upgrades at the intersection of Wulkuraka Connection Road and Keswick Road. These works include the installation of traffic lights and the extension of the footpath along Keswick Road—enhancing pedestrian access and improving traffic flow during peak periods.

This upgrade is scheduled for completion in May.

What’s Next

Looking ahead, the focus now shifts to the foundational and structural phases of the Student Hub and the redevelopment of JJ Block in the Junior School. These next stages are critical in bringing our vision to life and delivering high-quality learning environments for our students.

Upcoming milestones include

• Construction of pad footings and ground footing beams (Student Hub)
• Installation of under-slab services for the lower ground level (Student Hub)
• Installation of retaining walls within the Student Hub precinct
• temporary classrooms for JJ Block operational by late June 2025
• JJ Block site establishment scheduled for mid-July 2025
• Student Hub project completion and handover in 2026
• JJ Block handover also scheduled in early 2026
